The event, following the sports philosophy of the project, offers trophies and
medals to the winners, but there are no monetary awards. And the idea is
simple: whoever makes the most points is the champion. Teams must consist of
six players and a coach. Names must include a woman's. The intention is to show
that poker is also a women's sport.
"Promoting CBPE is a special moment for us. It's a totally different kind of
tournament, since the collective is as important as the individual in a sport
like poker, where people are accustomed to playing only for themselves most of
the time. And when we see the teams united celebrating each point, it shows the
importance of having a tournament in this style and we hope that this year we
can have many emotions at the tables again,” comments Ueltom Lima, president of
CBTH (Brazilian Confederation of Texas Hold'em).
The 18 registered teams that seek the title of the tournament are: Amazonas,
Bahia, Brasília, Ceará, Goiás, Maranhão, Minas Gerais, Pará, Paraíba, Paraná,
Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondônia / Acre, Santa Catarina
, São Paulo, Sergipe and Tocantins.
