AGE event kicks-off today in Australia

The largest gaming in the southern hemisphere, Australasian Gaming Expo (AGE) opens today at an all-new venue at ICC in Sydney’s Darling Harbour. Now in its 28th edition, the show has expanded leaps and bounds, and this year broke all pre-registration records with more than 7,000 attendees anticipated over the next three days.

Gaming Technologies Association, hosts of the Australasian Gaming Expo (AGE), has returned the show to ICC Sydney and opened the venue to 248 exhibitors (up 26 % year-on-year) across 19,000 sqm of exhibition space (up 17 % year-on-year).

Major exhibitors this week include IGT, Ainsworth, Aruze and Konami, each previewing their latest innovations to operators from Australasia, as well as around Asia, and surrounding jurisdictions. Other suppliers showcasing a range of their latest products include Scientific Games, Aristocrat and Interblock, among others.

"After five years of planning, it’s a pleasure and a challenge to be back to Darling Harbour,” commented Ross Ferrar, CEO of GTA. "No effort has been spared to make sure all visitors will be dazzled and entertainment by the event.”

This year’s expo features a range of seminars in the venue’s numerous meeting rooms and conference halls. A variety of topics will be discussed over the three-day event from gaming venues and integrated resorts to casinos, technology and investment. Also, current and future trends of the gaming industry in Australia will be a hot topic of discussion.

"As well as providing reliable and secure entertainment for millions of Australians, poker machine operations support more than 140,000 irreplaceable jobs and have provided over $50 billion in government revenues over the last ten years,” noted Ferrar. "Anyone who has driven on a road, studied at school or university or visited a hospital in Australia over the last ten years is a direct beneficiary of poker machine operations.”
