Angelo Soares wins fourth stage of BSOP

In a night of risky moves, Angelo Soares gets a big turn over Ramiro Maduro and takes the title of the Main Event at BSOP Sao Paulo, fourth stage of the Brazilian poker championship played on Tuesday night at the Sheraton Hotel in Sao Paulo. 'I wanted to be part of this event and the dream was fulfilled in the most beautiful way. I'm very happy,' said the champion.

Angelo Soares surpassed 1,536 players to get the BSOP (Brazilian Series of Poker), the Brazilian Championship of the modality, held yesterday (Tuesday 1st), its 99th champion of the series. The first Amazon to win a stage of the competition, Soares took home the prize of US$ 185,000, in addition to the coveted trophy, the exclusive bracelet and the vacancy for the next stage of the BSOP in Foz do Iguaçu, where will be held a special tournament dedicated to the champions.

With the event hall full of lively supporters accompanying the final table, Angelo needed just over 8 hours of disputes to reach the long-awaited title.

"I needed a lot of patience throughout the tournament to get to the title. Twice I got a low amount of chips and in both of them I stayed calm and managed to recover. At the final table, my opponent was in a better position, but I knew how to do a great reading of the hands and I reversed the situation. This title is to represent the whole Amazon," commented the champion with tears in his eyes.

Devanir Campos, Tournament Director of BSOP, evaluated the fourth stage of the BSOP season, which happened in São Paulo, stating that more important for organization is the representativeness of the competition for the players.

"It was a wonderful stage, we had a lot of players, but what matters most is the general feeling of the people who love the BSOP and see the importance of the titles. Being a BSOP champion is the greatest glory a player can have. We are very satisfied and we leave here with the mission fulfilled," he concluded.

The final table of the BSOP 4° Stage Main Event was in the following order:

1. Angelo Soares (Manaus / AM) - US$ 185K

2. Ramiro Maduro (Guarujá / SP) - US$ 103K
