New project to nationalize bingo halls introduced in Buenos Aires

A commission of three deputies and two senators of the Frente Renovador party is promoting a project to nationalize bingo halls in the province of Buenos Aires. The goal is to achieve transparency in accountability and improve collection by some USD 402 million, which will go to health and education.

The draft of the project, introduced this week, contemplates different aspects of the activity and does not leave out the labor question. In fact, it establishes a system of job stability for the employees creating a new category in the activity and maintaining its union situation.

It also plans to compensate public entities that are now license owners by extending a bond and a protection fund against possible lawsuits. In addition, it makes them creditors of a part of the new collection which, they estimate, projects an improvement in the income that they perceive today.

Also, it is expected to improve the collection of the Province by USD 402 million, starting from the implementation of an operating system that is already installed in some rooms. That money that Buenos Aires Province will receive will go to the municipalities to invest in primary health care, addiction centers and the educational fund.

Finally, the plan includes a 180-day audit of the gaming machines performance and bank accounts of the companies operators, under the premise of detecting possible money laundering.
