Historic meeting with ALEA

President of the WLA visited Argentina

WLA President, Jean Luc Moner-Banet, on his first official visit to Argentina, held a meeting with ALEA's Board of Directors this week (Tuesday 12) at the association's headquarters in Buenos Aires. “It is a joy to return to Argentina, after almost twenty years' he commented.

Moner-Banet led the group consisting of General Secretary Lynne Roiter, Executive Director Philip Springuel and Communications Coordinator Paul Peinado with the aim of advancing the various organizational aspects of WLS 2018.

Along with ALEA Board of Directors, President Alfredo Monaco welcomed the delegation and ratified the support, as well as the commitment of the members of the Argentine entity to the World Congress that, from 18 to 22 November 2018, will gather in the country the representatives of the lotteries of the world.

The meeting allowed the dialogue between the authorities of the regulatory bodies of fourteen jurisdictions and the WLA. The presidents of both entities highlighted the joint work and steady progress of the preparations for the World Congress.

"I am very pleased to be here today, on behalf of the WLA after so many years of the existence of both associations. Although we have had the opportunity to see ourselves in the past, I am very happy to see us officially today," said Moner-Banet.

"In just over a year, fourteen months to be exact, we will organize in Buenos Aires the biannual Convention and the General Assembly that will be attended by people from all five continents, to share the challenges and threats of our industry. It is a joy to return to Argentina, after almost twenty years, when AILE organized the Congress in Buenos Aires," he added.

"Be it in Asia, Europe and Argentina, we share the same issues in terms of threats and challenges, issues that affect us all. That is why it is very good to share experiences and also opportunities and developments in the digital world, new games, always within the framework of responsible and safe play. Threats are the same for everyone: illegal gambling, gambling arrangements on sports betting and money laundering prevention. We will have the opportunity to share them and to present our visions in this regard," concluded the President of the WLA.

Alfredo Monaco thanked on behalf of ALEA the authorities of the WLA: "You and your team prestige our institution and the validity of ALEA. From here to the event we're going to have a lot of work to do together.”
