Czech Republic to ban online bonuses, offers

The Czech Republic has introduced new restrictions for online gambling bonuses and free bet offers. The latest restrictions come in a year of sweeping changes to gambling laws in the Czech Republic, as the country seeks to move in line with European Union regulations.

From January of this year, operators have faced an increased tax rate of 23% on gross gaming revenue for sports betting and lotteries, and a new rate of 35% for RNG casino games has been introduced.

Both new taxes are being paid on top of a standard 19% corporate rate in the country.

Last month, the Czech Ministry of Finance also announced a series of consumer protection laws that operators will now have to adhere to.
