The deadline to submit offers to manage the single Andorran casino ended on the 31 October and the bidding process is being organised by the Andorran Gaming Control Board (CRAJ).
Cirsa stated: “For 15 years, and especially since the publication of the list of conditions in July, the multinational [Cirsa], together with Georges Kapital as a partner, have been assessing the viability of the project from a technical and economic standpoint and has finally presented two proposals for different locations in the Principality.”
The proposed casino CIRSA Andorra Escaldes Engordany would be a new development located in the area known as El Clot d’Emprivat in Escaldes-Engordany.
It aims to be open in 2020 and will encompass an area of 2,500 square metres distributed over three floors, including gaming and non-gaming space and will include a first class restaurant, bars and event rooms, in addition to a terrace for live music and other social events.
The second proposal, the casino Cirsa Andorra Caldea, located in the spa resort in Escaldes- Engordany, would utilise a two-floor space which is currently not in use, in the Parque de La Mola de Escaldes-Engordany. The project has an extensive range of non-gaming attractions on offer including a first class restaurant, bars and event rooms as well as extensive parking facilities and is scheduled to open in 2018.
According to the (CRAJ), for the licence to be awarded operators must first establish the availability of the land or premises, which must have at least 2,000 sqm for the public, excluding terraces and outdoor spaces.
Once this has been demonstrated, the board, along with other government bodies will award points on a variety of key criteria including; design and location, development time, economic benefits and the employment generated.
