Casino Sun Monticello also bets on non-gaming business

The Sun Monticello casino - 'flagship' of gaming operator Sun Dreams - will continue to increase its commitment to non-gaming businesses. This was stated by its general manager, Manuel Rojas, who said that during this year the venue will incorporate new gastronomic options and invest in projects related to family entertainment.

"Sun Monticello is carrying out investments that will allow us to enhance the 360 ° experience and reinforce our position as an entertainment place with everything included in the local casino industry," said Rojas.

He added that "for this we are executing a plan, which includes the incorporation of new gastronomic venues that will be in operation throughout this year. In this sense, we will open the Carpentier restaurant, a project led by Chris Carpentier himself, and we are in the construction stage of a Starbucks and Burger King stores."

The executive said that the gambling house will also invest in projects related to family entertainment without giving more details.

Rojas specified that the resort's revenues that do not correspond to gambling during the January-March 2018 period grew 11%, with respect to the same period last year. This exceeds the 3.7% annual increase obtained in the gaming business during the first quarter of this year (they went from recording revenues of US$ 30.6 million in the first three months of 2017 to US$ 31.75 million in the same period of 2018).

"While gaming is an important pillar in the casino industry, the non-gaming area is growing more and more. We are all making greater efforts in this segment," said Rojas.

Last year Sun Monticello developed an investment plan for about US$ 20 million, which was divided into three projects: the construction of the Gran Arena Monticello, an events center for 4,000 people that has given good results to date; the first gaming-bar in Latin America, which meant the renovation of the bar they had before, and the addition of 400 to 500 new gaming machines that added to the 2,000 existing ones.
