Another month of growth for the Chilean casinos

Of the gross revenues recorded by the industry in general, the 18 casinos reached gross income of US$43.88 million, representing 69.5% of the total. This implies a real variation of 20.6%, compared to July 2017. As a result, the regulated industry presents an accumulated real growth of 2.9% in the last twelve months.

In the same terms, the 472,996 registered visits correspond to a variation of 12.1% compared to July 2017 and to an accumulated growth of 1.2% in the last 12 months.

Regarding visitor spending, during July an average expenditure of US$92.75 per visit was recorded, which implies a real variation of 7.5% compared to July 2017, reaching a cumulative real growth of the expense of 1, 7% in the last 12 months.

The amount played in the month of July, in the 10,363 machines in operation in the 18 regulated casinos amounted to US$575 million. The prizes paid to players reached US$540 million, equivalent to 93.9% of the total wagered and, as a result, the gross or win revenue corresponding to gambling machines was US$35.40 million, which is equivalent to 80.6% of total gross income.

Of the total of US$63.15 million of gross revenue from the win, Sun Monticello represented 17.3% (US$10.93 million), followed by Viña del Mar Casino 12.7% (US$8.05 million), and Casino Rinconada 9 , 3% (US$5.85 million), completing the podium.

During July 2018, the 18 gambling casinos -without counting the 7 municipal concessions- contributed a total of US$16.50 million in taxes, of which US$7.10 million correspond to the specific gambling tax destined to the Regional Governments and Municipalities where they operate for the financing of development works, in addition to US$7 million of the VAT payment and US$2.35 million corresponding to the tax for entrance to the gambling halls, which are destined to the general funds of the nation.

The 13 regional governments and the 18 municipalities receive the funds from the specific gambling tax, the subsequent month of the payment done by the operating companies. Therefore, these resources will be received by local governments in October.
