This week, Bill 3397 was established in the Congress of the Republic of Peru that would regulate bets made by authorized establishments located within the territory of the Republic of Peru or that pay bets in the Peruvian territory, for observations, comments and/or definitive approval of it.
According to the bill, there are two objects: promote receptive tourism and establish the tax on sports betting.
The 14-page document includes the requirements and guidelines that online operators should comply with when they are authorized to operate this type of game in the country.
In accordance with what was expressed in the bill, the proposed rule would allow:
- The control and supervision of sports betting establishments by MINCETUR.
- Provide SUNAT with the necessary and adequate tools for inspection and compliance with tax obligations.
- Increase tax collection.
- Consolidate the expansion of the tax base.
- Avoid the tax evasion of companies not domiciled in the country that have sports betting activities.
