TJ of Rio Grande do Sul releases games of chance in the state

Players of the state of Rio Grande do Sul (named gauchos) can bet freely until the Federal Supreme Court adjudicates the case that was taken to the superior court by the State Public Ministry

Games of chance are released in Rio Grande do Sul by decision of the State Court of Justice. The judges made a ruling that makes legal the exploration of gaming in the region.

The case will now be judged by the Federal Supreme Court (STF), which will decide whether the 1941 rule is a constitutional provision that made the exploitation of gambling a legal infraction within the appeal made against the decision of the TJ of Rio Grande do Sul.

The appeal was referred to the Supreme Court by the Rio Grande do Sul Public Prosecutor's Office and, until it was judged, the exploitation of games of chance is liberated throughout the state of Rio Grande do Sul.

Meanwhile, on the legalization of gambling there are two projects in the Congress. PLS 186/14 was discussed in the Senate plenary and forwarded to CCJ, where it will be debated, and if approved, will be back to voting.

Bill 442/91 was discussed in a public session in the Chamber of Deputies, but a vote of urgency is still waiting to be voted in plenary by the parliamentarians.
